Ruby not being so bashful

Ruby used to just stare as soon as a camera came out but this weekend she wasn’t so bashful. She was practically posing. She showed much excitement as I snapped a few pics of her. Here is my favorite pic, my little ‘Pebbles’.

Ruby’s birthday

Ruby turned one and it was something special. The Parker’s were awesome to have the party at their house. Ruby had her first cake which she mostly played with the frosting. She received great stuff from everyone, all the toys are in her room or toy baskets around the house. We are really grateful of our friends and family. Thank you again to everyone.

It’s a new year

Ruby is almost 1.

Wow, has time gone by fast.

Tooth #5 is coming in. It’s about time too. It’s been playing ‘hide and seek’ for the last month.

We also found out she likes olives, for now. Egg is also back among the favorites having been exiled for a few weeks. Cheerios seems to be losing its footing as #1 with rice cakes and the little corn puff stars trying to take over. Cheese is still solid at #2.

Merry Christmas

We have been so busy, like many during this season, and yet have nothing to show for it (as far as pictures go). Now that Christmas has past, our lives can start to settle down a bit ;)

This was Ruby’s first Christmas and I think what she enjoyed the most were the lights. The lights on the Christmas trees and the decorations around our neighborhood. We would take walks looking at all colors and music; she would be so quiet as she took it all in. Now we have a wagon to tote her around in. Just a note on the wagon; it has seat belts, cup holders and storage space. When did wagons get so complicated????
Her personality is emerging each day and we have noticed that she definitely has a bit of stubbornness/persistence about her (Hmmmm, wonder where that came from?). She also has such a sweet smile and can make the grouchiest person smile in return (this occurred in our post office). She tends to be a happy/ go with the flow type of baby but she is also slow to warm up to strangers. She is learning to sign certain words so we can communicate with her in this way. Although she usually points at what she wants. “Cheerios” is a sign word she learned very quickly! Man, does she love her Cheerios.

Another joy…..

We are very excited to see Fiona Abraham come into this world. Danielle and Mathew are blessed by having such a healthy and beautiful baby this Christmas season. We are looking forward to meeting her and getting the cousins together this Spring.

We hope you all have a wonderful, healthy, safe and joyful New Year.

Thanksgiving and a big milestone

We took a trip to Northern California to visit Dani and Mathew. We had a great time hanging out with them and doing some sightseeing. We love their town. Some sad news, we lost the Bee pen during a walk. Matt retraced our steps but could not find it.
It was extra special to be able to spend some time with them before the arrival of their little one. We think it’s going to be a girl :)
Today, Ruby crawled forward from one end of the room to the other. We are so excited!

Taking a walk

Wow, it is November

Where did the time go? Ruby has been scooting, crawling backwards and pulling herself up on her knees. She may be one of those babies that go straight to walking before mastering crawling (hope not). We went to the Long Beach Aquarium this past weekend and had a great time. Ruby was more interested in the children than looking at the sea creatures. At the larakeet atrium, a bird landed on her head (which Matt promptly shooed away). It was kinda funny.

Halloween

Ruby had an awesome lady bug costume. Michelle took her out to a friend’s house to show off her outfit. (I was sick…)  :(

She sure did look cute in it.

Four teeth

Filed under: life — admin at 8:00 pm on Sunday, October 28, 2007

Ruby has cut four teeth (not at the same time). She is our little hamster and tends to gnaw on anything she can get her mouth on (i.e. furniture, mommy, coasters, books, etc..). Yes, I am still breastfeeding, even with the teeth. She continues to improve her intake with the babysitter and is napping for longer periods of time. We are very fortunate to have found babysitters that tend to Ruby with diligence and love.
We really enjoy playing with her and she makes us laugh on a continuous basis. From her dancing/wiggling, clapping her feet, imitating our sneezes/coughs, to her scooting/crawling backwards (she hasn’t got the forward motion yet). I tend to bring home a new toy from the store on a weekly basis and she has quite the collection going on. Although, her favorite toys are the orange star blocks (maybe it’s a genetic marker; the predisposition towards the color orange) and the bee pen. For those of you who don’t “know” the bee pen, Ruthanne gave this pen to Ruby and it is yellow with a plastic bee on top that lights up when pressed. The entire pen was covered in fluffy yellow feathers. Now that Ruby has ownership, it is matted, balding and not so yellow anymore.
